Salus Studios

01 — APPROACH

Build a few good things. Own them. Hold them.

The intellectual case for the portfolio shape: why these categories, why this size, and why now. Argument before logos.

The operating belief

Most studios make one large bet and live or die by it. Salus Studios is built on the opposite conviction: that a family of small, independent, cash-generative digital products — each built lean and run lean — is a sounder and more durable way to build than concentrating everything in a single venture.

The reasoning is straightforward. When risk sits in one product, one market, or one moment of timing, a single wrong call can take the whole company down with it. Spread that risk across several independent ventures with distinct customers and revenue models, and no one failure is fatal — while any single success can carry well beyond its own costs. Each venture stands on its own feet, so the portfolio is resilient by design rather than by luck.

This is stated as a belief, not a promise. It is the operating principle the studio is built to test in the open — and the four live ventures are the first evidence of it in practice.

Where we play

The studio operates across four deliberately distinct categories. Each reaches a different customer and earns its money a different way, yet all four are built and run on one shared spine: a small team shipping focused digital products, operating them lean, and owning them outright.

The point of the spread is independence. A consumer wellness subscriber, a freelancer buying a template, a tradesperson quoting a job, and a property developer commissioning consultancy share almost nothing as customers — which is exactly why a downturn or shift in one rarely moves the rest. Different demand, different monetisation, one operating discipline underneath.

  • Consumer wellness / audio — Salus Rooms: guided audio rooms for sleep and the quiet hours, on web, iOS and Android, on a freemium model with a premium subscription.
  • Digital products / e-commerce — Get Launch Kit: professional templates and starter kits sold as instant digital downloads, with free tools drawing the audience in.
  • B2B SaaS / tools — BidReady: professional quotes for UK trades in 60 seconds, sold on tiered subscription pricing.
  • Professional services / property — SRA Property Consultants: consultancy to the UK property industry, held as a separate limited company within the portfolio.

What good looks like to us

Not every idea earns a place in the stack. A venture has to clear a short, hard test before the studio commits time to it. These are selection and build principles — the bar each product is held to, stated as criteria rather than guarantees.

  • 01 — Solves a concrete job. The product does something a real customer already needs done, today — not a problem we have to talk them into having.
  • 02 — Can ship fast. It can reach a live, paying-ready state quickly, with a small team and without a long, capital-heavy build.
  • 03 — Can be run lean. Once live, it can be operated and maintained without heavy ongoing overhead — low marginal cost to serve each additional customer.
  • 04 — Owns its own audience. It builds and keeps a direct relationship with its customers rather than renting attention through a single channel it doesn't control.

Build and hold

The studio builds to keep. The aim is not a single moonshot, and not an early flip — it is to build good products and hold them, letting each one compound as it matures, its catalogue deepens, and its audience grows.

This is a discipline, and we frame it as a strength. Holding means the studio carries the full operating responsibility for what it ships and stays accountable for it over years, not quarters. That long horizon is precisely what lets an in-house catalogue, a customer base, and a working product become assets rather than line items — and it is the stance the whole portfolio is run by.

The target shape of the portfolio over time — how many ventures, at what scale — is something the founder will set out directly. [Portfolio target — to confirm.]

Where this leads

The belief is already executing. Four live ventures, across four categories, are the proof that the studio can build, ship and run independent products — not just describe a strategy.
